By this point, the skater has likely fallen while performing previous exercises. Falling is a part of skating, but it’s crucial to learn how to fall and how to get up from the ice. Falling during skating isn’t as intimidating; the challenge lies in falling while walking on ice. This is because, during walking and sideways gliding, the fall typically ends on the body’s sides.
The best approach when falling sideways is to roll onto the back until the skater comes to a stop.
To get up, place both hands on the ice, keep the left leg forward, and bend the right leg under the body to create support on all three points. Position the left leg under the body with the blade on the ice. Once the skater feels stability, gently press on the right knee and the left blade, moving towards an upright position.
